Exploring Space: Living In Space

Space begins about 60 miles (97 kilometers) above Earth. At this height, there is not enough air to breathe. This means that people should not be able to live in space. However, people have been traveling to space for many years, and, with the creation of the International Space Station, some are staying in space for months. This would not be possible without the help of science. Scientists have created environments in space that are similar to conditions on Earth. People can live in space as a result.
