Snapshots in History: September 11

On the morning of September 11, 2001, four airplanes were hijacked by members of Al-Qaeda, a collection of militant Islamic groups led by Osama bin Laden. Two of the planes crashed into the World Trade Center in new York, and another into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., killing everyone on board and thousands of others in the buildings and on the ground. It was an act of terror that destroyed thousands of innocent lives.
