More than half of the world's current population follow one of the three major monotheistic religions: Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Although there are significant differences in the practice and beliefs of these three religious systems, they also share several important characteristics. The most essential of these is momotheism - the belief that there is only one God, who created and rules the universe and all its inhabitants.
